I have a question, regarding this location at Mamaia beach.
I've been there nearly 40 years ago.



It would be great, if anyone knows this and can answer my questions.

I do understand English (und auch Deutsch) and so do some other members, unfortunately I do not know the answer to your question, I guess Mamaia has changed quite a lot in the last 20 years (not necessarily for the better)

A part of the building still exists, it has now a roof and windows but you can still see the round shape and the spiral entrance.
Is it now a shop or a bar?

The rest was replaced by complex Cleopatra.

Hi Dan,

there was an old postcard with some text, at page 4, I don't know what it means.
The problem with this location is, there are a lot of (old) photos and postcards, not only in this forum but also in the whole web.
But none of them has a description, that explains, what was the purpose of this building.


Romania. Mamaia. Vedere pe faleza. Hotel Aurora.

Si acum acest hotel se numeste tot Aurora.
In partea stanga se vede un pic din Teatrul de Vara. Iar acel bazin acum este secat si stirbit pentru ca daca imi amintesc bine, o pate din el anul trecut a folosit ca pista de karturi. Nu existau nici magazinele care acum se afla in partea dreapta, nici Complexul Cleopatra, observati cat de aerisita era statiunea, mult spatiu verde.
Data de pe stapila este 13 august 1975, dar asa cum stim cu totii, ilustata dateaza cu mult mai inainte.

This hotel still bears the name Aurora.
On the left you can spot part of the summer theatre. And that pool is now dry and damaged for, if I remember correctly, part of it has been used as a karting track last year. The shops that you can now find on the right side were not there then, nor was the Cleopatra Complex, look how airy was the resort, lots of vegetation.
The date on the stamp is August 13 1975, but as we all know, the postcard is much older than that.

Yes, but there I get only the information WHERE it is, and not, WHAT it is.

I tried searching for buildings in Mamaia, but nothing came up, es tut mir leid. Could be some sort of bar/restaurant/shopping area adjacent to the Cleopatra Sports Complex.

That's what I also assume.
But what has it been in the seventees?
