Let's put stop for this discussion! Wellcome for German Tourist. My answer for your question: the build is a SOLARIUM. But not a SOLARIUM what means today! On '70s, we could go to the beach,   , and then we could go to relax to the solarium:   , some massage,   some sports activities,  :soccer.gif: , one or two ice creams,  :ainghet: some idilic meating beetwin boys and girls,   , nothing guilty. There also do currency exchange because it was forbitten in Romania. In principal, we could get relax, a shower and some interesting activities. Unfortunatelly, that build does not exist anymore, it make a place for a small hotel, this is my last information.

I'm not sure, if I understood everything right.

The building I mean, consist of two parts, both round shaped.
So what was the one in the foreground, a place to shower and to get massages?
I can't imagine, that you played soccer inside the building, you mean on the beach?

The second one, you could enter up, using the spiral way.
On the top there were some benches, you could sit or lay on and take a sunbath.
Is this, what you called a "solarium"?

Yes, I remember ... I've been there in a hot summer night in 1975, together with a very sweet young girl (she was from Bucarest) ... wow!
But I don't think, this building was designed as a romantic meeting place for lovers?

So what was below the platform?

And for what was the room between the two buildings for?

I found some information about the old round shaped building in zona Perla.
Can anybody please translate the text for me into english (or german)?

În partea dinspre plajă a complexului comercial Perla se afla un bazin rectangular traversat de o alee. Pe partea dinspre plajă se afla o terasa care ascundea un spaţiu tehnic printr-un mic artificiu arhitectonic pe care localnicii şi turiştii îl denumeau cu simplitate ”melc”

On the side of the shopping center Perla facing the beach, there was a rectangular pool crossed by an alley. On the side facing the beach, there was a terrace hiding a technical space/plant room by way of a small architectonic artifice, which the locals and the tourists simply called the "snail” (die Schnecke)

Bunicii noştri, părinţii nostri şi noi când mergem prin Mamaia inevitabil au/am trecut pe lângă celebrul melc....cunoscut după 1989 ca discoteca şi autoserirea "Cleopatra". Foarte, foarte puţini oameni ştiu că "melcul" pe care este amenajat clubul ascunde în interior un secret.

Mai exact comuniştii au îmbrăcat un buncăr german din al doilea război mondial în beton şi aşa a apărut melcul...

Ja, here it goes: Our grandfathers, our fathers and ourselves going around Mamaia inevitably have passed the famous snail....known after 1989 as the disco and self-service canteen "Cleopatra". Very few people know that the "snail" on which the club is erected hides a secret inside.

The communists have coated a German World War 2 bunker with concrete and thus the snail came into being...
